Two letters from José Antonio Saucedo, Jefe Politico of Bexar, to Lucas Alamán, Mexican Minister of State. The first, dated 2 September 1824, reports that the formation of Coahuila and Texas as a single state has not been well received, and that Saucedo will remain in charge of the government until another representative is chosen. The second letter, dated 19 September 1824, reaffirms that a deputy will soon be sent to the Congress. Accompanied by a directive from the President of Mexico to the Jefe Politico of Texas, dated 5 November 1824, ordering the newly elected deputy of Texas to proceed to the State Congress at Saltillo.
